Users of this book are aimed as the first year foreign students in Chinese universities virtually without any command of Chinese.
Compiling principles

(1) Texts of this book are dialogues closely related to daily activities of the aimed users;
(2) Language expressions are more focused on spoken language;
(3) Language points are based on the contents of the texts instead of being presented in a systematic way;
(4) Exercises focus on speaking ability while phonetic and structural practices are also included.
2. Material selection closely linked to daily life Dialogue materials are written by tile compilers to be as natural and standard expressions.
3. Dialogues are arranged as based on daily communications
Dialogues are based on daily communications and closed linked to daily life experiences to enable the learners to apply what they've leant to their practical needs.
4. Independent of comprehensive textbooks
The selections of language points are not repetitive with that of comprehensive textbooks and are not presented in a systematic way.
Structure of the book
There are 40 lessons divided into two parts. Part One contains Lesson 1 to Lesson .19, Part Two Lesson 20 to Lesson 40. Each lesson is composed of texts, new vocabulary, explanatory notes and exercises.
1. New Vocabulary
Words are consisted of New Vocabulary, Proper Nouns and Situational Words which are shown in the situational explanation of each dialogue. Each lesson has no more than 20 new words.
2. Texts
Texts are dialogues closely linked to daily life of the students.
3. Notes
Notes are added to explain meanings and expressions for a better understanding of the texts.
4. Exercises
Exercises are focused on spoken expressions, as well as basic phonetic and structural practices.
Teaching hours
The whole book may take 144 teaching hours, and each lesson 3-4 teaching hours.
