Edu is a fictitious international education organization aimed at helping the third world countries with their education.
Main characters
Dule: Chief Representative of Edu in China. He is optimistic, humorous and diplomatic.
Jenny: Dule's wife, Chief Administrator of Edu.
Jack: Project Officer of Edu.
Miss Lin: Secretary and interpreter of Edu.
There are altogether 26 acts in the ten episodes throughout the whole book, which uses Jack's working experience in China as a clue, and teaches learners vocabulary, sentence patterns, knowledge and skills needed for official functions through the description of several grand events including World Education Exhibition, fund raising for the education of the disabled. Each episode contains five parts, namely, text, new words, background information, exercises and reading materials. Chinese Pinyin and English translation are also included. To make the language vivid and practical, typical scenes of official business are designed in the form of dialogues. As a result, the characters can communicate with each other with clearly defined tasks and objectives, and the learners can learn as if they were present on the scene.
