This book systematically introduces studies made in the field of Teaching Chinese as a Second Language (TCSL), which not only includes what have now been done by Chinese researchers, but also refers to studies made by their peers in the related disciplines (foreign language teaching, for example) in other countries. In addition to making an introduction, the author put forward to some new points of views in an effort to make the outline of this topic clearer. As the author quotes, "In the current education field around the world, teaching evaluation is regarded as one of the three most important research topics. Teaching evaluation plays an important part for the development, reform, management and decision-making of education, so it is considered of crucial importance by education sectors of many countries." Despite the great improvements made in this field, further exploration is still needed. The publication of this book fills this gap.
Yang Yi, Associate Professor of Beijing Language and Culture University and supervisor of Master students, is mainly interested in Teaching Chinese as a Foreign Language (TCFL), Chinese Language Testing and Evaluation of TCFL. She has published more than 10 papers on many periodicals, such as Language Teaching and Linguistic Studies and Chinese Language Learning. She was the organizer of "Oral Database for Chinese Language Learners", which was one of the projects of the 10th Five-Year Plan of Beijing Language and Culture University. She was also responsible for researching HSK (Advanced) Examination Database Parameter System, which was a sub-topic of Ministry of Education's "Testing and Research of Chinese" project. In addition to that, she was in charge of the construction of HSK (Advanced) Examination Database as well as the revision of The Chinese Proficiency Test (HSK) Guideline (Advanced).
