Belonging to the Eazy Chinese Textbooks series, this reading journal aims to help students to improve their language skills through combining the study of geography and history with reading.
A travel route starting from Beijing, ending in Land's End in Hainan Province, and with 15 cities in-between has been designed. The students are required to move on to a new city each week, meanwhile read a book or a piece of reading, complete the journal, and exchange with their classmates in the classroom. In the journal the student should record the date he/she arrives in the city, the name of the city, the local temperature, the distance from the last city, and the geographical knowledge. Title and author of the book read should also be recorded, as well as the sentences the students want to quote, the summary of what they have read and reviews. Blank space is reserved for students to record the extra reading they've done, and to improve the interaction between the students and the activity.
The book can used to accompany the "Traveling Around China - Chinese Reading Marathon" activity held by some of the international schools. The students compete for the winner based on the cities they've been and the mileage they accumulate.
