The foundations for this set of teaching materials were compiled and established from the original Meeting China series, preserving Its most outstanding aspects while simultaneously embracing a new teaching philosophy. Such facets as the overall design, compilation of underlying principles, layout and corpus compilation are an embodiment of the uniqueness of the short-term Chinese language program.
   
The entire set is comprised of the Comprehensive Chinese and Spoken Chinese series. These 8 books each contain 12 lessons; every lesson includes warming-up activities, vocabulary, texts and grammar points that are reinforced by specific exercises and comprehensive exercises.
   
The most unique aspect of this set of teaching materials is that both the Comprehensive Chinese and Spoken Chinese series are self-contained and yet successfully compliment each other; opportunities to practise speaking while enhancing one’s ability in comprehensive Chinese are often provided. Furthermore, these materials strengthen the students’ ability to learn proactively. Through fostering this sense of responsibility and ability in group interactions, the students are thus also able to increase their overall Chinese proficiency, assisting them in everyday situations outside of the classroom.
   
This set of teaching materials aims to gradually increase the proficiency of those who have do not have a Chinese language background, but also strives to refine their skills with each level by separating students into classes according to their degree of proficiency. Users can choose to utilize the entire set with accordance to their needs; they may also choose to merely use one series or one volume. Having completed studying the entire set, they will have achieved an intermediate or even advanced degree of Chinese proficiency.
