Learning a language is like walking, we must go step by step, so dose leaning vocabulary. We have to learn thousands of words. Which words should be learned first and which other words should be learned later? It is a very important issue. We try to divide vocabulary into some groups. After learning all these groups of words, you will reach your vocabulary learning aim. Therefore we plan to have three volumes of HSK Vocabulary Practice: Step by Step, for three levels (elementary, intermediate and advanced). Every volume classifies key words of the relevant level and provides exercises as well as explanation on them. This book is for the intermediate level.
Entering the intermediate level, more words will be learned, and their differences need to be distinguished. As enriching our vocabulary, we need particularly take care of those words similar in meaning or usage, such as "差别一区别", "处处一到处", "固然一虽然", "人们一人群", "通常一往往", "之内一之中", "广泛一普遍一普及'' and so on. We often encounter the problem of how to know their differences. This book consists of 400 groups of words, which are selected from the first three grades of The Outline of Grade of Chinese Words for HSK. They are divided into 16 lessons in order of syllable, each of which has comparative practice exercises for 24 or 25 groups of words. (One side is the practice exercises and the other side is the answers and explanations.)
Following each lesson, there is a test paper with 30 comprehensive exercises. Keys are also provided. If you can complete 22 exercises or more correctly (including 22), it means you are capable of moving to the following lesson. If you can' t make it, you' d better go over the lesson again.
We hope you can master the meanings and usages of those high-frequency words by completing all exercises in this book step by step.
